What's Buzz-worthy: Ever hear those stories of collectors going into chain stores where cards are probably way off the typical customer radar and them finding fresh old packs with hot Rookie Cards inside? This isn't that, but it kind of is -- it's a result of a trip to a sporting goods store mentioned on the Blowout Forums when a collector found 2008 Topps Update packs (the home of pricey Clayton Kershaw RCs) last month. Out of curiosity, I hit the same chain and found a number of decade-old baseball duds still collecting dust but also a pair of old blister packs from one of the distributors that were a decade old and priced to move at a whopping $1.50 per. Inside them were these packs of PopCardz, a one-and-done creation of 2008 that actually includes some of Hollywood's biggest names on supposedly 100-percent authorized cardboard. It's a tiny set of 40 cards with Gold parallel cards found one in every three packs. The only other inclusions in the product were only found in blaster boxes -- eight memorabilia cards with some big names among those. On the backs of these cards are basic bios and favorites much like old teen magazine interviews and also codes where collectors could do online and unlock prizes. That site is long gone but a number of the stars have become even bigger names in the years since. On the checklist here are Jessica Biel, Eva Mendes, Scarlett Johannson, Jared Leto, Rosario Dawson, Chris Evans, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, the late Anton Yelchin, Jessica Alba, Jordana Brewster, Kristen Bell, Megan Fox, Eliza Dushku, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Hayden Panettiere and Christina Ricci among others. It's actually a pretty solid set names-wise, but there's probably a fun story out there somewhere as to why there was never a second season.
