When 2016 Topps Legacies of Baseball arrives on March 30, the new brand will include a first-time signer for the company.

That signer is Los Angeles Dodgers rookie pitcher Kenta Maeda, who signed with the team after a successful career in Japan and made his spring debut this past weekend.

“Maeda is a popular player on a big market team with dominant international statistics,” said baseball brand manager Zvee Geffen. “It’s a combination driving excitement for fans everywhere, and Topps is the only place collectors will find his Major League Baseball-licensed autographed cards.”

Peyton Manning mentioned plenty of legends during his 11-minute retirement speech Monday in Denver, but only one name mentioned had as much gravitas as Manning's place in the game today.

That name was Johnny Unitas and Manning recalled meeting the Hall of Famer and Colts icon during his rookie season after a 38-31 loss back on Nov. 29, 1998.

"It was the first time that the Colts had returned to Baltimore since they had moved back in 1984," Manning remembered. "We didn’t exactly get a warm reception that day. The fans were screaming at me, and I kept thinking, 'Hey, I was only 8-years-old then, get off of my back.'

"I had met him once before, but when the game was over I had the chance to shake Johnny Unitas’ hand. He told me, 'Peyton, you stay at it. I’m pulling for you.' Well, I have stayed at it. I’ve stayed at it for 18 years and I hope that old No. 19 is up there with his flat top and maybe his black high-tops on and I hope he knows that I have stayed at it and maybe he’s even a little proud of me.

"There is just something about 18 years. Eighteen is a good number, and today I retire from pro football."

The merchandising of "geek films" has been as massive as the box office the box office for sci-fi, comic and other franchises in the last decade and beyond and the latest in New Era Caps are perhaps a perfect example of the eternal dilemma.

Do you use them or collect them?

In the case of the Batman vs. Superman Character Armor 59FIFTY caps from New Era, they're unique and pricey, which might add to that debate even though they are hats with no packaging to worry about.

It was his last rodeo after all.

Peyton Manning's 18-year NFL career that includes five MVP awards, two Super Bowl rings and more touchdowns and passing yards than any other quarterback in history comes to an end on Monday in Denver when he's expected to announce his retirement.

Manning is among the most-available and most-collectable quarterbacks in the history of the game -- he's also one of the most-valuable ones, too. It's been three years since the last TNA Wrestling card set from TRISTAR, so the autographs from some of the wrestling promotion's top stars may be starting to dry up a bit on cardboard.

The company has changed a lot in the last few years, too, which makes a new development on its  website, ShopTNA.com, a surprise. How? A few generations of old promotional photos can be found autographed for bargain prices -- and many are signed by top names who have not been involved with TNA for some time.

Is your 1967 Topps baseball card set complete? There's a chance it might not be now.

A funny thing happened when Buzz was working to confirm the various errors and variations in the 1967 card set in the weeks before the arrival of this year's homage, 2016 Topps Heritage.

There appears there could be a third version of Mike McCormick's card No. 86. When examining a group of 1967 cards, Buzz noticed a possible version (above) that's not cataloged anywhere among the various error & variations lists or noted on any population reports despite this set being 49 years old. It's a dramatically different version of the card for the Washington Senators pitcher who was traded to the San Francisco Giants, which is the reason for the variations to exist.

It turns out that this card is from the 1967 O-Pee-Chee set, though there is only one version cataloged there. Could a third version like this exist for the Topps card? Or are there two versions for O-Pee-Chee? Keep reading for the details.

He's a member of the International Tennis Hall of Fame as a writer and broadcaster -- the "preeminent and foremost authority on tennis in the world" according to the Hall -- and a legend in his own field as a winner of the Associated Press Sports Editors' Red Smith Award and a member of the National Sportswriters and Sportscasters Hall of Fame.

He's Bud Collins -- the voice of tennis for more than 50 years -- and he died Friday at age 86.

“No media figure in history in my mind has ever been as important to one sport as Bud Collins was to the sport of tennis,” said Mike Lupica, a New York Daily News columnist, to The Boston Globe, where Collins was a long-time writer. “You can’t minimize it. He became the de facto ambassador to that sport as it was exploding in this country. He educated. He entertained.”

And he had tennis cards, too.

He was a star in Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball with a triple crown, two nods as the top pitcher in the league and five All-Star nods.

If you're a movie or music fan, there's plenty to collect -- but you may not have seen items like the ones found in Garageland.

Take for instance the Star Warhol Series -- a lineup of prints that mesh the iconic worlds of Star Wars and Andy Warhol. The Campbell's Soup can is R2-D2 above, for example, while the pop artist's famed style is also seen in other pieces from the Los Angeles-based company founded by a street artist known as Xray back in 2010.

Topps Authentics is clearly hoarding top young shortstops.

Cleveland Indians star Francisco Lindor is the latest player to sign on exclusively with Topps' autographed memorabilia line after a rookie season that included a .313 average, 12 homers and 51 RBI in just 99 games last year. He finished second in the American League Rookie of the Year race to fellow shortstop and Topps Authentics player Carlos Correa.

His autographs will be found on oversized Chrome cards, jerseys, balls and bats as part of the deal and he joins a group that also includes Yankees pitcher Luis Severino, Red Sox pitcher Henry Owens and Braves third baseman Hector Olivera.

There's a surprise to be found in some packs of 2016 Donruss that officially arrives Wednesday as cards of Ted Giannoulas -- aka The Famous San Diego Chicken -- can be found inside.

Card No. 151 in the set is not a veteran, Hall of Famer or rookie -- it's a card of the world-famous and Hall of Famer mascot.

But more important than that card and all of its parallels? There are memorabilia cards and autographed memorabilia cards of the legendary mascot to be found as part of the product's overall nod back to 1982 -- the year of the Chicken's "Rookie Card."
