Update (June 11): The shoes sold for $190,373 after the auction closed this weekend.

They're not Air Jordans but they're already in some rare air as an SCP Auctions clock counts down.

They're Michael Jordan’s game-worn and dual-signed Converse shoes from the 1984 Olympics -- specifically the gold-medal-winning-game against Spain -- and they're on the auction block and already have set a record for a pair of game-used shoes. And that's with more than two days remaining before the auction closes.

James Comey's testimony before the Senate judiciary committee today will be watched by millions live and sound bites from what will be a historic day in Washington, D.C., will be heard for years to come no matter what happens.

A year ago, not many people would know the name of the now-former FBI director but with all that's happened since then there are plenty of hot takes no matter what one's political leaning might be. And in that time, his cardboard appearances have slowly added up via two products, Topps' ongoing Garbage Pail Kids/Wacky Packages lines focusing on "Trumpocracy" and the "Disg-race to the White House" and the politically focused Decision 2016 trading card release that has an updated Series 2 set arriving on Friday.

KISS and Vampirella -- seems like an unusual yet still natural crossover, right?

That's just one of the comic books arriving this month -- this one specifically today -- via Dynamite Entertainment, a Mt. Laurel, N.J.-based publisher that has a tie to something beyond the typical realm of comic book characters.

KISS/Vampirella arrives with six different covers for issue No. 1 -- all seen in a gallery below along with a sketch cover -- and that's a common trait for other series from Dynamite, many of which come with ties to movies, video games, famous book and comic strip characters, Internet stars and more.

You've probably seen the highlight reel of Scooter Gennett's four-homer, 10-RBI game for the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday night but you may not realize how rare the feat is -- or how rare his baseball cards might be.

He's just the 17th player ever to hit four homers in a game -- nobody has ever hit five -- and he's the first in the rich history of the Reds to do it. The last? Texas Rangers slugger Josh Hamilton back in 2012. It's a club that includes five Hall of Famers -- Ed Delahanty, Lou Gehrig, Chuck Klein, Willie Mays and Mike Schmidt -- and sluggers Rocky Colavito, Bob Horner and Mark Whiten among others.

First Bowman Chrome autos, Topps Heritage autos and Rookie Cards in general for key players seem to be powering sales of wax boxes most generally these days for Major League Baseball.

Those shouldn't be too surprising, but in a world of seemingly countless options with autographs, serial-numbering or memorabilia pieces one could argue that less is more --- that oldschool simplicity is back.

And one could argue that the basic Rookie Cards from a hobby staple such as Topps Update (or Topps Traded if you're oldschool) continue to be an emerging go-to -- and not just for players such as Mike Trout, whose 2011 Topps Update card is a ridiculous seller if in top condition and still pretty impressive if just in a lesser slab.

Perhaps it's just a gut feeling with the arrival of 2017 Topps Update previewing last week and its date now known on the release calendar -- but the old Topps Traded sets of the 1980s and even recent years of Topps Update also seem like fertile collecting ground, too, especially if you're into graded specimens.

He's not exactly a come-from-nowhere player, but the power is coming through for one Boston Red Sox minor-leaguer.

Michael Chavis hit his 14th home run of the season Sunday for High-A Salem -- and actually his 13th, too, since it was his third multi-homer game of the year. That's just two-shy of his career-high from two years ago in 109 games.

He's hitting .343 through 47 games (so that home run pace looks even stronger) and the good news here is that he's just 21 years old since he was just 18 back in 2014 when Boston took him with the 26th overall pick.
