Alliance of American Football starts Topps Now run with bang -- plus ongoing 2019 gallery

The Alliance of American Football kicked things off for its inaugural season with a pair of games on Saturday night and two more on Sunday -- but it didn't take long for there to be a moment that lit up Twitter.

It was Shaan Washington's fumble-causing, helmet-ejecting demolition of San Diego QB Mike Bercovici.

The San Diego defender gets that exact moment on his Rookie Card as one of the first seven 2019 Topps Now AAF cards that are available now.

The cards are available for just 24 hours via Topps.com and are printed to order, meaning if just 400 cards are ordered then just 400 cards are made. They start at $9.99 with discounts available or can be had via bundles of one of each card.

This first week of cardboard includes seven cards featuring action for the Orlando Apollos, San Antonio Commanders, Birmingham Iron and Arizona Hotshots. Some of the players are ones you have seen on cards before, some are not.

Update (Feb. 12): The sales numbers for the first wave are in and they sold an average of 422 copies per card. The big hit, not surprisingly, was the big seller, while card No. 1 also fared relatively well. Topps did not have Topps Now during its NFL days, but these numbers do out-pace a number of its own releases in other sports.
