America's Best Card Shop competition opens today

Who's the best? It's a simple question with a number of potential possibilities -- and there's a contest launching today to get a definitive single answer.

America's Best Card Shop is a four-month long competition presented by Loupe, which has joined forces with industry leaders such as Topps, the Miami Marlins and Blowout Cards. The winner gets a grand-prize package worth more than $50,000 as well as an exclusive Loupe streaming deal.

"Our goal is simple, and it's all in the name: We want to find the best sports card store in the United States," read the program's announcement. "If you own a brick-and-mortar sports card store in the U.S. (or want to nominate one), we'd love to hear from you."

Basic info can be found in the video above and the Google form to nominate a shop is at loupe.cards/bestcardshop. Official rules can be found right here.

The judges are Topps Hobby Sales Director Kevin O’Neil, Women of the Hobby co-founder and industry veteran Susan “Sooz” Lulgjuraj, Green Bay Packers running back A.J. Dillon, artist and entrepreneur DJ Skee and Loupe founder and CEO Eric Doty, who will whittle the competition down to four finalists.

Finalists will stream live on Loupe later in the summer before a community vote to determine the winner, who will be revealed live on-stage at this year's National Sports Collectors Convention in Atlantic City in July.

"Everyone involved sincerely appreciates what these shops mean to their local communities and to the larger sports card industry," read the announcement. "We hope this is a fun and exciting way to shine a spotlight on some of the small business owners across America who are propping up the hobby and making it a better place for collectors everywhere."
