Today's the last day of auction action over at Crazy Uncle Auctions and since that might not be on your natural list of places to check for modern cardboard, well ... that's why Buzz is here.
The Harrison, N.Y.-based auction house has an impressive array of stuff -- from elite oldschool pieces that you wouldn't imagine existing to stuff fresh from the card factories of today.
POLAR BEAR POWER
The Item: Pete Alonso 2019 Topps NOW #705A Autographed Relic (/99)
The Price: $80 after five bids (about 10 hours remaining)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This is one of 15 Alonso cards up for grabs in this one and it's at a fraction of the previous eBay prices (for now) with some solid flip potential even if bidding picks up from here. (It should but could still be a good buy.) eBay asking prices are at least $100 higher and actual sales of comparable Relics (not this one but others from Topps Now) are $250 and up. The key here might be timing -- with MLB set to return there could be more attention here very soon for this big-market slugger. Either way, it's an iconic card noting a key part of his career so far and not a generic aut0-Relic card.
Keep reading for a deeper look at four more items ending tonight that caught Buzz's attention for this weekend edition of Auction Buzz -- the action closes at 11 p.m Eastern here.
MINING THE GROUP LOTS
The Item: Ken Griffey Jr. BGS-graded card lot (1989-1991)
The Price: $61 after two bids (about 10 hours remaining)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: There are a ton of lots like this in the auction with some gems to be found here and there in them. Sure, those white-label BGS cards don't have much appeal but I'm not focused there. It's the sole gold-label card here that is the steal and the BGS 9s are quality throw-ins considering. The Fleer Griffey alone consistently sells for at least the $60 mark and often more than $100 on eBay. (Some people are paying up for cards with all 9.5 subgrades, which this one doesn't have, but there have been a number of $100-plus sales for comparable cards.) The three BGS 9s are also easily cards that can get $10-20 a pop, maybe more with some patience. (Auction lots are always worth a closer look.)

NEW BEGINNINGS
The Item: Giant Size X-Men No. 1 (CGC 7.5)
The Price: $1,412 after 10 bids (about 10 hours remaining)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This 1975 book isn't quite up there like the first appearances of Superman, Batman or Spider-Man but it's an important one for comics fans and movie fans of today as this is he first appearance of the group of X-Men many might know best today. This was a reboot of sorts for the series at the time and it features Wolverine, Storm, Colossus, Cyclops and Nightcrawler (well-known characters today) as part of a new team rescuing the originals ... who had been trapped in reprint-land in the business for about five years before this book, which launched new stories. The condition here is strong for a book of the time and most importantly that auction price right now is under the eBay sales high lately ($2,295). The only two copies of this one on eBay have $2,350 and $2,800 asking prices. (It's a safe oldschool buy ... and if the movie studios ever get their acts together with who owns what in terms of cross-overs to make even more insane bank, key X-books could be even stronger forces in the future.)

KEY RELEASE
The Item: Ja Morant 2019-20 Panini Prizm Red White & Blue Prizms $249 Rookie Card parallel (PSA 10)
The Price: $273 after 12 bids (about 10 hours remaining)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This one made my list early on and not much here has changed except for the price -- it's strong but still has some room to grow compared to sales elsewhere. As I said before, this card isn't a super-rare piece but it's one that figures to be in demand now -- and later. Ja Morant and Zion Williamson's Panini Prizm Rookie Cards figure to be iconic pieces for years no matter what their careers might hold as the demand for Prizm has been off the charts this year. Only 572 of these have been graded by PSA and 233 are 10s. (PSA 9 is most common.)

LAST BUT NOT LEAST ...
The Item: Tom Brady 2000 Upper Deck #254 Rookie Card (PSA 10)
The Price: $1,302 after 11 bids (about 10 hours remaining)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This isn't an off-the-radar kind of card at all -- based on the price alone you should get that it's in-demand -- and it's a no-frills Rookie Card but it's, you know, Brady. He's got more than 40 different RCs out there and they're all in-demand and this one. Fewer than 750 copies of this card have been graded by PSA and this is one of just 156 to get the nod with a 10. (It most-commonly checks in at a PSA 8 probably due to those blue borders and foil-stamping that goes to the edges.) The eBay asking prices are as high as $3,499 for this card with the only other option a $1,999.99 open auction right now. Actual sales? Recent auctions on eBay have been between $1,600 $1,700 in the last month. There's room here -- might not be a steal but it's also a safe bet for the future and a clean-looking copy.
