Star Wars has a rich history on Topps cardboard reaching back to the beginning in 1977 and we've seen countless releases through the years all highlighting the history and the characters of the saga from a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

Star Wars Chrome Sapphire Edition, for example, revisits the original 1970s cards but in a new way -- a Chromed take on vintage and the original tale -- but there's another brand that's also generating some Lightsaber-worthy heat in a Chromed return of sorts, too. That's Star Wars Chrome Galaxywhich arrived for the first time last year and has a new edition on the way later this month -- one that's already hotter than a Tatooine summer in its pre-sale stage.

Why? Well, last year's mix included powerful stuff such as autographs and Superfractors to go with artwork that's from some past releases as well as new looks at characters throughout the universe -- all in one spot.

Today's Star Wars Galaxy sets aren't those of the past, really, with the line launching in 1993 for a three-year run before it returned for four more sets beginning in 2009. A 2018 release revived things a tad, too, but without Chrome as is the form of the current run beginning last year. In all sets, though, the Galaxy brand is one that showcases artwork from throughout the Star Wars world -- varying styles and characters from the eras and films, comics and books that existed in their time. Autographs were in play more often than not but initially for the artists helping bring those creations to life -- though not all of the releases even had ink. The newer sets, such as the Series 5 set from 2010, included actor autos from the original films.

But now? We get all of that and more -- on Chrome stock -- with looks at all aspects of Star Wars and with ink like that of Samuel L. Jackson above, albeit on a rarer scale vs. other names. The basics in these new sets are a mix of new and old -- artwork from some past Galaxy releases are alongside pieces showing new stars such as Baby Yoda and The Mandalorian or autographs from new-generation stars such as Daisy Ridley as Rey. (The image above is a teaser for this year's set alongside two classics from last year's release.)

The various colors and finds among the rainbows of parallels and the simple inserts also have captured the attention of fans as well as fans of grading -- a look at eBay will show a number of hefty asking prices. That Jackson auto, for example, is over $5,000. You'll also see some strong sales if you flip over to completed auctions, too. They aren't alone as raw cards also fare rather forcefully as are unopened box lots and stuff like Superfractors -- check this one out.

The next edition of Star Wars Chrome Galaxy is presently set to arrive on Oct. 26.
