Black November arrives ... and here are five deals to consider

If you hadn't noticed, there are a number of boxes with discounted prices right now right here as BlowoutCards.com is in the midst its Black November sales just two days into the new month.

Wave 2 is here and many of the discounts were dramatic enough that Buzz had to sit down and ponder the possibilities in many of the boxes and cases -- and here are five boxes/cases that caught this collector’s eye.

2007 Donruss Elite Extra Edition baseball hobby box
Sure, this one's listed as a baseball set with that World Series-dominating guy, David Price, on the box from back when he was fresh off the Vanderbilt field, but this one has a lot of other surprises that makes it one to definitely consider as it celebrates the college game with a number of other inclusions that were helping shape a different card landscape back then that we see a little more familiarly today in a number of directions. Notable ink found here includes Price, Madison Bumgarner, Josh Donaldson, Corey Kluber, Jake Arrieta, Dellin Betances, Jerry Tarkanian, Don Haskins, Rick Majerus, Rollie Massimino, Ara Parseghian, Dale Brown, Dean Smith, Gene Keady, Jim Boeheim, Steve Spurrier, Tom Osborne, Vince Dooley, Jennie Finch, Rebecca Lobo, Brandi Chastain, Bill Walton, Dominique Wilkins, Summer Sanders and a number of other college stars and coaches in a few sports who don't have a lot of cardboard. You get four hits per box here and there are a number of other inserts that can also pack some punch if you land the right names. It's worth a look at its reduced price.

2009 Donruss Americana 100-pack retail lot
You might dismiss these based on the fact that they are retail packs and this one isn't necessarily that generous on the retail front (one hit per blaster and I believe one hit per display box) but there's more here than memorabilia cards and autographs besides the fun variety that is the personalities that are Americana. A tough pull in these packs that was a bit of a deal back then was a retail-only short-printed base card for wrestling legend Ric Flair and his first certified autographs were found only in this brand. He's signed plenty of cards since but this was the home of the first. A bulk lot might not yield Flair -- and his autographed versions of this card are also possible -- but that's one reason to dig in here. The basic cards range from $5 to $20 on eBay, while the ink ranges from $50 to $150. I'll probably do one just for fun and break it here soon.

2008 Donruss Elite Extra Edition Baseball hobby box
Sure, the guy on the box didn't pan out all that well but one prospect inside this one who did is Mike Stanton, now known as Giancarlo, in the outfield of the New York Yankees. There are a number of other notables whose autographs can be found here, including Buster Posey, Derrick Rose (yes, a handful of basketball players were oddly added here), Brandon Crawford, Pablo Sandoval, Rick Porcello, Regis Philbin, Randy Couture, softball legend Cat Osterman, Hollywood stars Ashley Judd and James Caan. A few of those are tough pulls but at this price this is the time to chase.

2014 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects baseball hobby 12-box case
If you're a dedicated prospector then you know instantly who's in there and whether you might need this one or not. For the rest of us, there's a Chrome anti in every box and a shot at plenty of color in a Refractor rainbow that has big-money potential even if things don't go Super for you. Among the notables in the standard stuff here? Kyle Schwarber, Trea Turner, Sean Newcomb, Matt Chapman, Michael Kopech, Rhys Hoskins, Aaron Nola and even autographs from San Diego Padres draft pick Johnny Manziel. The Top Prospects portion of the set also includes a number of other notables (Carlos Correa, Miguel Sano, Austin Meadows, Clint Frazier, Brandon Nimmo, Corey Seager, Kris Bryant) that can add a little chase. Across all of its inclusions and parallels, there's a lot of potential here even a few years later.

2017 Panini Prestige football hobby box
This early season release may not hold up as one of the flashiest ones by the end of the season, there's plenty to like here with a strong mix of NFL veterans and a crop of new draft picks in their school colors. The cool part on this one? An autograph in every pack and a good ratio of rookies to veterans -- three rookies (potential money guys like Patrick Mahomes, Mitchell Trubisky, Deshaun Watson, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Alvin Kamara, Kareem Hunt) and one veteran (typically limited to no more than 100 copies). You get 40 cards per pack here so it's not like these are light boxes. In fact, this might be my personal ideal with guaranteed hits and some meat after that.
