Black November arrives … and here are five deals to consider

If you hadn't noticed, there are a number of boxes with discounted prices right now right here as Blowout Cards already is in the midst its Black November sales.

The first wave is here and many of the discounts were dramatic enough that Buzz had to sit down and ponder the possibilities in many of the boxes and cases -- and here are five boxes/cases that caught this collector’s eye ... and there's far more that just might suit your tastes in the big sale.

ALL ABOUT THE INK ...
2016 Topps Heritage High Number Baseball Hobby Box
Heritage High Number wasn't always quite as loaded as it is these days, but that's not to say that past boxes aren't worth a look -- it's just for different reasons (and players), especially when it's as cheap as this one is right now. The base set here is pretty small so that can limit some of the oomph, but you can find RCs for Willson Contreras, Edwin Diaz, Lance McCullers, Albert Almora, Kenta Maeda, Blake Snell and Trevor Story -- not the best crop but the next list is the one that matters. Among the autographs here? Bryce Harper, Buster Posey, Blake Snell, Carlos Correa, Carl Yastrzemski, David Ortiz, Frank Robinson, Hank Aaron, Ichiro Suzuki, Johnny Bench, Kris Bryant, Nolan Arenado, Rod Carew, Reggie Jackson, Trevor Story, Trea Turner and Mike Trout. They're obviously not in every box ... but they are possible. When boxes drop is the time to dig in to chase them (and so much more) in Heritage.

KEEPING IT SIMPLE ...
2018 Tristar Hidden Treasures Series 10 Auto Baseball Box
Ok, so my picks might be a little diamond-centric this time ... I'm still getting over the baseball season being over. This one isn't as much about cardboard -- it's not actually cardboard -- it's about risk-reward. This one is a simple release -- an autographed baseball in every box -- and at this price it makes the lesser names you might find in a box a tad more palatable. It also might make the possible landing of a Hank Aaron, Mickey Mantle, Ken Griffey Jr., Mariano Rivera or Lou Gehrig ball even more outrageous if it were to happen to you. I've collected a long time so some of the solid names found here are probably already in my collection -- that's the only risk in my mind (hence the lesser names remark) -- so this seemingly as-low-as-it-goes price makes me put this one right here. (And one is likely headed into my cart after I finish this.)

WITH SOME LUCK, IT'S ALL ABOUT TIMING ...
2019 Topps Star Wars Authentics Series 2 Autographed Photo & Trading Card Box
I rip a lot of boxes for Buzz Breaks and monthly marathons and this one (and its predecessor) have been on my mental radar because of the potential upside here -- I just haven't done it since there are only two pieces per box. There's one signed photo and one card per box and that's it. This one makes my list here not because of some super-steep discount -- it's too new for that -- it's the reminder that a good break of one of these could get you better results, especially important with the new film coming very soon.

A PROSPECTING STAPLE ...
2014 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects baseball hobby box
Prospectors know this one and who's in it at a glance, but for the rest of us a rundown might not hurt. You can find ink for Kyle Schwarber, Trea Turner, Matt Chapman, Rhys Hoskins, Aaron Nola and even autographs from San Diego Padres draft pick Johnny Manziel ... remember him? They are also joined by Corey Seager, Luis Severino, Alex Reyes and Matt Olson in some of the other auto sets. At this price, it's a simple rip on the cheap with some upside if you land a key name or key name with color -- and it's not just about autographs, either. There's plenty to be found in these boxes for prospect-minded baseball fans. (It also doesn't hurt that a couple of those guys had career years.)

A SUPER-HERO BARGAIN ...
Marvel Captain America: Civil War 216-pack Super Case
This retail-only release packs a ton of memorabilia cards -- roughly 36 -- along with basic cards and some foilboard parallels. Don't believe me? Check out this past break. The packaging will make you work to open them all -- I drew blood last time -- but it's a fun one and some of the mem cards can be elusive. I'm probably doing another ... so get your order in before I do.
