Black November arrives … and here are five deals to grab

If you hadn't noticed, there are a number of boxes with discounted prices right now right here as Blowout Cards' Black November sales have arrived this year.

The first wave is here and many of the discounts were dramatic enough that Buzz once again had to ponder the possibilities in many of the boxes and cases -- and here are five that caught this collector’s eye ... and there's far more that just might suit your tastes in the big sale.

PLAYING IT SAFE? NAH ... THERE'S HUGE POTENTIAL HERE
2020 Topps Heritage MLB
Buzz isn't a high-roller for the most part -- even when the big sales hit -- but there are releases where the discounts can make the gamble (and this one, like many, can be a gamble) worth it. This one gets the nod from me this time as it's one that I did very well with -- check out the autograph in this break (or at right) -- that's a win that's not the norm ... but he's also not alone. You get some kind of variation in every box most of the time and a good name there can mean good things. There are also rarer Relics to go with ink here where master set collectors can pay well if it's something they need. This Ryan will end up in a slab for me at some point -- I should have slabbed it long ago no matter what but those black borders have made me push it off -- but other autos here include Bo Bichette (rookie), Austin Riley, Anthony Rizzo, Carl Yastrzemski, Fernando Tatis Jr., Hank Aaron (yep!), Johnny Bench, Mike Trout, Pete Alonso, Ronald Acuña Jr., Shohei Ohtani, Yordan Alvarez (rookie) and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. among others. They won't be in every box or even every case, of course, but they could be in there and when it's cheaper that's when it's time to open.

ONE AND DONE ...
2021 Topps WWE Chrome Slam Attax
One and done isn't a bad thing here -- it's actually an added reason to consider this gaming box. Why? It's Chrome, color flows well and autographs drop roughly every third box. I just recently did a Buzz Break of this one -- I did pretty well with the non-ink color -- and I have two more on the way, myself. Why? It's clean, the auto list has some bigs (see link) and it's a release that I believe was limited to just this option as it was a bit of a test for Topps UK Chroming out what was a European gaming staple until Topps lost the license. They are gaming cards -- the backs are all the same -- but the fronts are very sharp ... and it's all clean. I'd do more but I need to pace myself this Black November season. (Yes, it's a season ... be ready for more waves regularly next month.)

TIME TO BUY ...
2019 BenchWarmer Holiday Archive Box
BenchWarmer is a brand that's been around since the early 1990s with earlier releases being traditional non-sports cards with bios of models, aspiring TV stars and other celebs on the backs. Newer stuff is more about the hits and this is an example of that. Most cough up a good volume  of hits -- so prices on some lesser names or card types can be soft at times -- but when you land a better name it can pay for a box or come close, leaving you with good volume after. I opened one of these in the recent past and it included four autos and one memorabilia card of a more premium approach -- and if you land a good name on stuff that's not a hit, and they can be in here and on the rarer side, there's potential for those to outsell the hits. (Note the serial-numbering on mine in that box linked above.) There's a lot of stuff out there -- a lot of releases over the years -- but that means there's a following here and buyers. With these a good chunk cheaper, just like Heritage, now's the time. This one has safety with some volume ... which is not bad for the sale price.

GOING HIGH-END ...
2018 Topps Definitive Collection MLB
I'll never rip this one -- but I do own a cool card I landed in a group break here long, long ago with a helmet piece -- but if I did go high-end I'd go here first. Why? First, some safety in volume -- six auto and two other hits per box. There are some legendary names, rookies, premium Relics and more here and they should flow better than other formats as this one's among the pricier ones with a clean, crisp design and feel. Ink here? Shohei Ohtani (rookie), Mike Trout, Bryce Harper, Derek Jeter, Aaron Judge, Sandy Koufax, Hank Aaron, Rafael Devers (rookie), Rhys Hoskins (rookie) and more. Really, there are a lot of variables where a card could be a big deal and not be the biggest name and since stuff here is lower volume and a premium price even the floor for autos could be stronger than you might think, too.
