BlowoutCards.com raises offer to $100,000 for Shohei Ohtani Superfractor autograph (BGS 9.5) from 2018 Bowman boxes

Shohei Ohtani isn't cooling down -- on the mound, in the batter's box or even on cardboard.

The Los Angeles Angels rookie sensation hit his fifth homer of the season on Thursday night and that's just furthering the furor for finding his Holy Grail of baseball cards, his 2018 Bowman Superfractor autograph. It's a one-of-a-kind card that has yet to appear in the marketplace and can command serious cash.

How much? Well, BlowoutCards.com has upped its previous buying offer to $100,000 for this 1/1 card when it's hand-delivered to the Blowout offices and in BGS 9.5 condition. It's an offer that now stands until May 31.

Which format might Ohtani's biggest card be found in? We don't know, but a few formats can be found right here right now -- hobby boxes, HTA Jumbo boxes and even packs.

Why the offer? Blowout is sold on the Los Angeles Angels' two-way phenom from Japan who's now 3-1 with a 4.10 ERA and 32 Ks in 26 innings pitched so far -- and the star who's hitting .354 with five homers and 16 RBI in just 19 games this season at the plate. Blowout co-owner Thomas Fish said he's fielded a number of calls from international buyers seeking to own this one-of-a-kind card, too.

"Blowout has never made an offer of this size for any card," Fish said. "Over the years I’ve seen excitement before, but nothing like this. The demand both domestically and internationally is incredible."

Ohtani baseball cards have been in demand and the few products he's had autographed cards in so far are also strong sellers, but Bowman is the first to include a wide array of ink -- and the Superfractor is the hobby's defining version of a Rookie Card parallel.

Ohtani has 13 different autographed cards appearing in 2018 Bowman packs with a standard auto card, a Refractor (/499 copies), Blue (/150), Atomic (/100), Green (/99), Gold (/50), Orange (/25), Red (/5) and 1/1 printing plates as well as the Superfractor. Sales for these other versions have reached as high as $30,300 for one of the Red cards on eBay and a BGS 9.5 copy of an Orange went for $13,400, also on eBay. There have been roughly 150 completed auctions for Ohtani autographed Chrome cards since its arrival with even the standard autograph going for around $1,000. (Not bad considering Bowman boxes aren't considered high-end price-wise.)

Bowman recently arrived with one autograph per hobby box and three autos per jumbo box. Other stars with autographs in this one that should spark plenty of interest, too, include the 20-year-old reigning Baseball America Minor League Player of the Year Ronald Acuña, Phillies slugger Rhys Hoskins, future Reds fireballer Hunter Greene (who's just 18 years old) and 20-year-old Cuban White Sox prospect Luis Robert.
