Book It, Buzz: Some late-night ink with a very daytime price

For years now, autographed books coming direct from the publishers -- or direct from the authors themselves -- have been an affordable way to collect ink from notable names in all realms of pop culture.

It's not a perfect system with stamps, fakes and autopens sometimes in the mix -- a problem for publishers to catch as they are not authenticators -- but thanks to dedicated collectors on the Blowout Cards Forum and elsewhere, those problems often get caught and fixed ... or at least become well-known enough to avoid if it's an issue that goes uncorrected.

Getting ink in-person is always best -- book tours still happen, of course -- but landing autographed editions from publishers, online sellers or celebs themselves via their websites or other appearances are common. So, with that said, here's the first of what just might become a monthly department here on The Buzz.

Our fourth subject and autograph in this ongoing series? Tonight Show host and long-time actor/comedian Jimmy Fallon.

Why it’s Buzz-worthy: There are a number of celebrity-created/endorsed kids books out there that can be found via publisher autograph editions direct from large chains and elsewhere -- and this award-winning performer was kind of a no-brainer at this price even if the ink comes via a colorful bookplate. This one was made into a TV special the year after this book arrived, and it's among a number of books he's done for years now. The ol' day job with The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon has been going since 2014 -- and his earliest books pre-date that -- but he's got plenty of credits since Saturday Night Live in the late-1990s and his previous late-night show, too, where he took over after Conan O'Brien's departure from the time slot.

Why this item: This one was on sale so I bit easily with that price -- and he's also not got any certified autograph cards to compete with this so that was even more of a reason at that point. He's not a rarer sig per se, especially with so many books, but he's appeared a little bit of everywhere -- from Almost Famous to Fever Pitch (two on my radar) -- where it's perhaps an affordable auto that can appeal to many out there.
