Bryce Harper donned his No. 3 Philadelphia Phillies jersey for the first time ever yesterday and today's the day for the first baseball cards reflecting that new reality.
It's thanks to Topps Now, the real-time baseball card platform from Topps, and that's where his cards will be printed to order after a 24-hour window closes over at Topps.com. The cards are $9.99 with quantity discounts available.
Harper agreed to a record-setting 13-year, $330-million contract with the Phillies on Thursday -- a deal that will lock him in place until he's 38 years old and in his 20th MLB season.
Harper, who's been found on baseball cards since he was was on the USA Baseball 16U team back in 2008, is a former National League MVP and Rookie of the Year who has hit 184 home runs in seven MLB seasons all with the Washington Nationals who took him with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 MLB Draft.
In his last decade of cardboard, Harper has appeared on more than 7,600 different pieces and he's got plenty of low-volume autographs that can be found throughout packs in that time, too. He's got more than 1,500 different autographed cards. As for his Rookie Cards, those fall in 2012 -- almost 20 different standard RCs -- from Topps and Panini America with the only autographed one (using standard RC definition) falling in Triple Threads.
These new Topps Now cards aren't his only new Phillies items from Topps, though.
On Saturday Topps revealed a pair of posters -- also with cards for each -- showing a Photoshopped version of Harper in action. Poster A is the blue version, while Poster B is red and gray. Alone they are $19.99 apiece via Topps.com. The cards carry the same images.
These cards are $7.99 apiece with discounts available -- $74.99 for 20 -- and they also can be had bundled with the matching poster for $24.99. They'll all be printed to order after their seven-day sales window closes.
