What's Buzz-worthy: Believe it or not, this is my first time ripping this one mostly because I don't hit Target all that often and when I did I wondered why this one cost $2 more than the other boxes on the shelf. I'm still not sure as to that last part but I know that I ripped into this one looking for the MVP's Rookie Cards (you know, Patrick Mahomes ... he's a lock). This one's basic RCs were pretty much duds, but there was some solid star power among the inserts and some in the base, though that's not as easily done as it's a meatier 200-card set. The hit was a "name" rookie, though he wasn't exactly dominating this past season. This one is a safe and fun buy and there are a number of formats out there that can allow you to buy in a little more bulk -- or buy in smaller chunks than even this one. Interestingly, the hobby boxes include 10 fewer cards than blasters but include four hits. This one feels a little like Score in some respects -- not necessarily a bad thing -- and there is some strong photo editing on the insert side. The base set is a little simple on the fronts but that's helped by some solid backs. All in all, this one felt like a comfortable break -- nothing awful, nothing Earth-shattering -- and one I'd probably try again at some point just to see if I can land the MVP.
