Buzz 12 in 12: Busting a 1979 Topps Alien wax pack (Hour 12)

Autographs/Memorabilia: Not for a few decades

What's Buzz-worthy: This legendary franchise had a number of films and a number of card sets through the years -- and this one was the first. It's a simple 84-card set capped by 22 stickers all showcasing characters and scenes from the film. I'd put a premium on cards featuring some of the top stars here, a group that includes Sigourney Weaver, Tom Skerritt, Harry Dean Stanton and John Hurt among others and this pack included a sticker and card showing Stanton as Brett with a couple of group shots. Except for the card backs, the feel of this one seems a little more modern than 1979, which is a plus. ... This pack included an iconic scene -- "The Thing Within Kane!" -- on one of the cards, which might be the highlight of the pack. I might be one of only a few people to have never seen this film in full -- just some pieces here and there -- so the cards don't resonate with me perhaps as well as they would for a fan. Given their age and the small set size, this is one that might be fun to put together out of packs if you can find a few packs at a relatively cheap price.
