Buzz 12 in 12: Busting a 1988 Topps 'Growing Pains' wax pack (Hour 6)

What's Buzz-worthy: The wrapper of this one is a real highlight in that it shows us how the late-1980s really were longer ago than you might think and help reinforce how the world has changed just a bit since Jason, Maggie, Mike, Carol and Ben Seaver were, as the box says, "TV's favorite family." This set showed up right in the middle of the show's run from 1985 to 1992 (so no Leonardo DiCaprio Rookie Cards here) and it's very simple -- 66 cards and 11 stickers, which are both for characters and actors and then a couple of other shots. The set has a handful of actor cards (none in this pack) to start things off in the base set, and the rest are scenes with one-liners from the show and some of them have trivia-based backs, while others offer up a Tiger Beat-style take on the stars from the show. "Kirk Cameron's vital statistics" include a birthdate (Oct. 12, 1970), eye color, first acting job, favorite movie, favorite bands and so on. These also were apparently available as a factory set, which is probably the best way to go, though the printing and photos here are very clean and cut for the time. The sticker in this pack is one I might grade at some point -- just for fun -- it looks 10-worthy.
