What's Buzz-worthy: The adventures of Zack Morris, A.C. Slater, Kelly Kapowski and Screech in their college years lasted just one season, but it also spawned this quirky card set from Pacific. It arrived two years after the company produced a set for the original series, Saved By The Bell, so it's not that much of an anomaly. Since they weren't involved with the series regularly, this set doesn't include any cards of Lark Voorhies (Lisa Turtle) or Elizabeth Berkley (Jessie Spano) -- sorry Showgirls fans! -- or Dennis Haskins as Richard Belding, either. But it does include a massive amount of cardboard for the four main characters from both shows -- Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Mario Lopez, Dustin Diamond and Tiffani Thiessen -- along with appearances from a few new characters probably not as well-known. There may have been some contractural limits on this one as cards literally only show the main cast members in campy studio shots or scenes from episodes, though one card shows Robert Guillaume from his single episode and a couple cards at the very end show Professor Jeremiah Lasky. Other possible cameos that could have been here include Mindy Sterling, Marv Albert, Brian Austin Green, Jenna Von Oy as well as Voorhies and Haskins who all made an appearance in an episode. ... This box was a bit of a bummer coming up 10 cards short of a set despite having more than 250 extras -- and as many as six copies of some cards. There were just two of the 10 Prism cards -- its only insert set -- in this one and each has a small bend on the top right from packaging. These cards are cliche 1990s on both the fronts with the design and the backs with their typography and blurbs -- and those can read really, um, awkwardly as you can see in the gallery below. The original series' 1992 Pacific set seems a lot rarer than this one, which you can still find all over eBay in pack form -- though the shipping might cost you more than the box. At about a nickel a pack, I figured this one was worth ripping -- just for your amusement.
