What's Buzz-worthy: This was the last of the first wave of Topps Heritage WWE releases and it's on that has its up and downs as well as its quirks that can offer some challenges to collectors. It has magnet cards found only at retail, tins with bonus cards, 12 Allen & Ginter active stars in retail and 12 more retired guys in hobby, a 20-card Walmart-only Ringside Superstars re-do of an old boxing set, two-star retail Relics, hobby Relics and then autographs in hobby (one per box) and in only certain retail stores' certain types of products. Autographs of Carlito and Layla are only found in gravity boxes from Target (one in 24 packs), while autos of John Cena and Mickie James were only in Walmart's gravity boxes. (When's the last time you saw a full gravity box recently?) This box delivers as it should have -- no autos here, just one Relic per -- but I knew that digging into this one because it was relatively cheap. I hadn't busted any of these since back in 2008 when I raided a Walmart for the whole gravity display -- including the box -- and landed at least two Cena autos and maybe a James. Never did land anything from buys at Target, though. The design of this one is a little wonky here and there -- it uses three past Topps football designs -- the 1955 Topps All-American set a good one, the other two a little more forgettable. Heritage WWE took a few years off before it returned using past Topps WWF designs, which I've liked, in 2012 and in recent years. If you can find a hobby box of this one, it's worth considering if it's not too pricey, though you can probably find other (better) years for less money.
