Do you like Buzz Breaks? Today's your day then as we launch 8 in 8 -- a series of a eight breaks of wax boxes and wax packs in as many hours today. We'll post one every hour ... this is Hour 6.

The box: 1994 Action Packed 25th Anniversary of Monday Night Football football cards
The cost:
About $8 now ... far more back then. (Click here for new NFL cards)

What's inside this one? Keep reading ...

Packs per box: 25 (24 standard, one two-card "prototype" pack)
Cards per pack: 6
Cards in this box: 146
Base set completion:
71 of 71 (100 percent)
Duplicates: Plenty ... but only one complete set

Notables on base cards – Joe Montana, Derrick Thomas, Marcus Allen, Steve Young, Jerry Rice, Randall Cunningham, Jim Kelly, Cris Carter, Brett Favre, Dan Marino, Warren Moon, Troy Aikman, Barry Sanders, Morten Andersen, Emmitt Smith, Shannon Sharpe, Sterling Sharpe, Tim Brown, Rod Woodson, John Elway, Junior Seau, Michael Irvin, Bruce Smith, Thurman Thomas, Howard Cosell, Keith Jackson, Brent Musberger, Don Meredith, Lynn Swann, Frank Gifford, Dan Dierdorf (sort of)

Inserts: 3*
.999 Pure Silver parallel (1) – Troy Aikman
1994 Action Packed Prototypes (2) – Drew Bledsoe, Jerome Bettis
Wrapper cards (24) – John Elway, Troy Aikman (3), Steve Young (3), Emmitt Smith (7), Jeff Hostetler (4), Barry Sanders (6) ... (* -- not sure I'd really call these cards ... but some might keep the cardboard pieces that were wrapped atop the cards trays that made these packs)

Autographs/Memorabilia: None

Super Bowl Score (how many players we landed here) — 49ers 10, Chiefs 8 ... SCORE: 49ers 22, Chiefs 18

What's Buzz-worthy: I only dipped back to the 1990s for a throwback box here -- I considered going as far back as the 1970s -- but this box was so loaded and so cheap with a few unique inclusions I had been looking for (mildly) the last few years but hadn't landed. This box is an A+ because the Silver cards are found one in 96 packs. (The only other potential find here is a one in 60,000 long-expired redemption for one of 25 sterling silver cards of Emmitt Smith, Michael Irvin and Troy Aikman.) The design here is all about the simple fronts showcasing some solid photos at times and each of them are embossed. The card backs are text-heavy and pretty ugly (they needed stat lines) -- an odd purple night sky scene with the moon backing a "Monday Night Matchup" recap of a key moment along with some having added trivia lines to fill things out. The end of this set includes a number of not-expensive but fun cards of the legendary broadcasters that had been tied to the TV franchise at that time. That includes the only NFL card of announcing legend Keith Jackson and a most of the cards from a small checklist for Howard Cosell excluding cut autographs. The Action Packed cards all are pretty available out there in max form, despite the fact that they simply can't be as plentiful as traditional cards (these had to have been pricier to make as they are embossed, folded and glued for every card) and even singles with metal foil leaf on them. Panini America owns the brand name for this one and has brought it back in a few small spots in the recent past as inserts without embossing, but these cards have a unique feel to them and are a brand that I actually like a lot. I'd like to see a bigger return -- perhaps with autographs and memorabilia involved ... or even a high-end approach.

Product Grade: A (it's a bare-bones look but it's loaded with Hall of Famers)
Box Grade:
A+ (Silver cards are not one per box)
Fun Grade: B
