What's Buzz-worthy: Just 8,250 boxes of this one were made -- this being half of a box -- and this was considered a high-end brand at the time with it having an encased autograph in every pack and more of a premium-style pack with one insert and two base cards. The cards aren't ultimately that high-end but these are a tad harder to find compared to the other football releases from this company around that time -- all with an on-card autograph in every pack for around $10 if I remember correctly. (Standard-release packs were around $5-7.). I found these at roughly $1 a pack now, which seemed very low even though many of the autos in this one might not fetch that. There also were autographs for the basketball-teasing Hoopla cards with the best card being a Kevin Garnett limited to only 500 copies. This 50-card set is lean on big NFL names but it includes a few -- ink from Hall of Famers Terrell Davis and Curtis Martin, Green Bay Packers franchise Hall of Famer Antonio Freeman and past college greats such as Jay Barker, Frank Sanders and Eric Zeier among others. The value here? Not high -- but I figured since I dug in hard on SR stuff back then but merely ripped just one (bad) pack of this one back in the day I'd jump on it at this price. My first pack? Freeman auto -- so I knew it wouldn't be a total bust -- but it was a stressful rip as my Davis auto didn't show up until my final pack. There are guys here who don't have a lot of autographs -- and a lot of smaller schools are found here, too -- so there can be more interest here and there than one might think. A few of the names here had a lot more NFL experience than I had thought and some had XFL and AFL time but ultimately there are a lot of names that mean pocket-change autographs now. This was a fun rip for the price, though, and it delivered one of the top two autos. I'll take that.
