What's Buzz-worthy: Pete Rose is about the easiest of big-name living players to find an autograph for, but this is a box that has dried up a bit since it was released and I jumped on one when it presented itself because there are a lot of interesting and unusual autographs with inscriptions and memorabilia pieces to be found here. This box included a rarer inscribed bat card -- other ink parallels of this one are in green (/5) and pink (1/1) ink -- while other cards can include just ink on standard autos and some with inscriptions like you see on the box. If you want a standard Rose auto, hit that second link up top -- you get a Rose in every box at a slice of the price here. This one's only other inclusions were five top-loaded base cards taking us through his career. The card backs are sometimes super-simple as all they include are captions for the photos seen on the card fronts. One thing to look for on base cards here are a few with reversed-negative photos and some that are short-printed. SPs include card Nos. 1 and 60, while the photo variations are on Nos. 2, 6, 16, 20, 23, 27, 30, 32, 37, 38, 43, 47, 51, 52 and 54 -- and they may not be all that easy to spot without others to compare to. I feel like I landed a good box compared to just a standard auto so the risk paid off vs. the cheaper boxes. Ink is all on-card here and autos are all numbered to relatively low volumes, but finding a Rose auto isn't tough in general -- so these aren't boxes you would want to over-pay for. Meanwhile, even that cheaper release that wen't full retail is drying up, too. Why? There is always some demand for Rose and it's inevitable that some people out there have tried to collect the entire autographed sets for both of these releases -- otherwise there would be a lot more to choose from on the market.
