Rookie Signatures Xtra Points Gold (1) – Kareem Hunt (/50)

What's Buzz-worthy: Why rip into one of these? An autograph in every pack and three of four packs in a box being rookie ink (the other being a veteran) means you have a decent chance at key rookies' autos. One really key auto here that wouldn't have been a big deal a year ago? Patrick Mahomes II. Meanwhile for this particular pack, a year ago, this is the kind of pack that would be hard to top. Now? There's a lot of uncertainty here but he does have a potential path back to the league with the Cleveland Browns. Had this been a Mahomes auto? It's about $150. A year ago? This would be a very strong pack. (Note: Hunt's cards were printed without an authentication line to the card has been stamped to note that it's authentic.) Generally speaking, this pack delivered a bunch -- it almost feels like a blaster for about the price of a blaster -- and it gets a top grade from me for its two numbered cards, a rarer auto and a mess of rookies and inserts. Some of the rookies of note here include Mahomes, Hunt, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Mitchell Trubisky, Deshaun Watson, Christian McCaffrey, Cooper Kupp, Alvin Kamara and Leonard Fournette. They're in their college uniforms but with pro teams noted with logos -- the best of both those worlds if you ask me. With ink, parallels and inserts possible, there's a good shot you can find something of note here -- maybe not always on the money side but this is a solid collectable mix. The hits didn't flow generously at retail, so hobby is the way to go with this one with an autograph every time, though the jumbo box at the link above does seem interesting, too.
