What's Buzz-worthy: This one is a little confusing as it's a newer release, but some of the inclusions here could have been found in earlier ones. The base cards? Those in this box are from the first series from 2017 and I'll admit I couldn't tell you a thing about either of those Declaration of Independence signers. One thing that is new here are the Presidents in Sports cards, and I landed a Herbert Hoover (baseball) while others in that set show Richard Nixon (bowling), Gerald Ford (football) and JFK (football) to name a few. It's a simple inclusion that should be found elsewhere in the card world when companies look to the past and pastimes. ... Boxes of this one note that they should have a Stamp On Our Past card (not here), a Pieces of The Past Relic (two here, one noted as from a previous edition) and an In The News Relic. The stamp cards use past stamps, something different that visually add some variety but not what I'm seeking. I prefer the possibilities of the Pieces of The Past Relics, which in previous releases were swatches from autographed documents. Here, I'm not sure whether it's that or whether they are from something else but I got two of them. Both cards noted here are noted as "piece of relic from" but I couldn't find the associated items on the company's site to see what they were. The Buffett got a bit of a chuckle out of me as it looks like Buffett used some lined notebook paper for a note or something ... and it's a comically tiny swatch here at that. ( A modest swatch considering he's like third on the richest people in the world list.) The final hit is one of the news clippings and it's of a definite not-modern person and is stated to be a piece of a newspaper from 1807. The first Pieces of The Past release was in mini-envelope packs with a hit per box, while the second release I opened included a larger volume of base cards and a hit (not in packs). This one puts more emphasis on the hits with lesser base presence. It's evolved and changed and, for affordable novelty, this is a brand that can pique my interest. A nice swatch can get you some cash back here if the boxes are cheap enough and this one was probably a break-even box if I were a seller. I figured I'd see what surprises might be in store here since I hadn't tried this series ... and I got Buffett-ed.
