What's Buzz-worthy: I got my first look at this one via blasters (click here) and followed that up with this hobby break, which is essentially a deluxe-format version of the base set with diecut and etched cards as well as everything all in one pack with a guaranteed auto and a guaranteed memorabilia card. Jimenez is a top-name rookie to find though he's been hit and miss on the field this year hitting just .247 -- plus this auto was a rarer parallel. However, there were other big boppers in this pack -- the only numbered non-hit was of Mike Trout and I landed a Bryce Harper and Babe Ruth among inserts. (My three base cards were pretty brutal.) The stock here is thick -- a big upgrade from retail -- while the die-cutting and texture work is pretty crazy. If that's your taste, this one is a win. I think some work and some don't and I liked the look of some of the retail-only inserts, so I'm a bit on the fence both ways. Retail is cheaper and still can deliver ink and some different stuff, while these pricier hobby packs guarantee ink and more in every pack (and there are four packs per box). All in all, my gamble with a hobby pack paid off pretty well here, though my personal taste might be to dabble more by the pack than by the entire hobby box.
