What's Buzz-worthy: What the heck is this? At best it's classified as a repack product, though its creator went to all of the effort to package these in pack/box form and offer up some simple odds for types of cards to be found in these boxes. The core here is made up of botched print-job cards from 1990 Pro Set with other "inserts/vintage" cards one per pack. The creator also attempted to classify the various types of misprints into categories that can be found a few times a box, once per box or rarer -- though what precisely some of them are (at least compared to other similar errors) seems a little debatable. One pack in this one that was fun included one of each of the 1990 Pro Set Draft Day promo cards -- four cards prepped for the likely No. 1 pick to be presented to that player at the NFL Draft. That meant Jeff George on all three teams and a Keith McCants -- and the insert in the pack was a George card with the Colts from later in his career. That one made me laugh. (A big deal long ago had the pack existed.) I was around for 1990 Pro Set and consider it a low-rent favorite of mine in part due to errors and variations, though even I consider this one to be a bit of a stretch ... yet I still had to dig in on one of these boxes since it was cheap. Why do these exist? Well, it seems somebody had plenty of this stuff that typically would have been destroyed -- and this arrived a few years ago when people seemed to be revisiting Pro Set errors with some dollars behind them. Few of the cards found in this box would have any true high-dollar value but some Hall of Famers might be in demand by player or team collectors who like misprints. The inserts are pretty much cheap standard stuff to offer some variety and bigger names beyond 1990 Pro Set. There could be some legit error cards to be found here -- like the Fred Marion belt error shown on the box -- but most stuff from this time isn't that big of a deal ... but eBay sales can still surprise from time to time (check those completeds). Imagine if a baseball repack was made like this with a few popular MLB sets and big players from around this time ...
Product Grade: A (Why does this even exist? That's part of its appeal ... at least to me.)
Box Grade: B
Fun Grade: B+
