What's Buzz-worthy: I haven't opened any of this since literally 2001 -- back when I could find two-pack blaster boxes at Toys R Us -- but this one presented itself pretty much at its original price ($14.99 per pack) and as a hobby box (retail boxes look very similar but do not have guaranteed hits so be careful if hunting) I couldn't pass it up. Why? A hit in every pack -- and this was perhaps the first release to include a memorabilia card in every single hobby pack. Each included a pair of mini inserts, a hit and then base cards or inserts. This box? It was pretty normal with the only rarities being the parallel (roughly every other hobby box) and then that mini being listed as three per case with a memorably forgettable player on its front. My hits and inserts, though, were a who's who of 1990s stars, especially among the memorabilia where most were solid names and my two patch cards were colorful finds. (A lot of names were among the cards I didn't mention, too, who aren't worth much now but were perhaps stars then.) Since a lot of this was made -- at least it was around a lot back then -- the values on said hits aren't crazy so this is a hobby box I perhaps should have sat on closed ... but Buzz doesn't do that. Would I rip more? Hobby or perhaps blasters only (they have hobby packs) for sure if the price was right. Was the box a money-maker? Probably not but it was fun ... though those base cards have not aged well as they do feel quite Photoshop cliché. The rest, though, is pretty simple and clean -- and that's not always easily said for some designs from Pacific (and other companies) from this timeframe. I like the hits here as well as the minis, while the inserts are also different -- they are basically on canvas, not cardboard. Meanwhile, releases have come a long way since here in just 20 years ... so you can find better releases. I just wanted to finally say I had opened a box of this one.
