What's Buzz-worthy: Since my first look at Bowman is out on a truck somewhere pushing that one to next week, I'll go way out of left field for this Friday break and rewind the clock 20-some years for a card set that, well, is pretty much an iconic time capsule of sorts while being a companion to a CD set of soundtracks. The CD itself has 50 tracks on it -- since many themes are so short -- but that barley got a look out of me (no listen, either) but since I found this with a sealed set for less than a blaster (about $15 shipped) I bit. Not all copies will include the cards it seems -- always look for the display box that the set and the disc arrive in -- but I liked the look of things here. It's a who's who of past TV Guide covers from 1953 to 2002 so there's a mix of a bit of everything here, not just skewing older though we're a generation removed from this one's arrival. I spotted singles of this one out in the wild -- oddball card sellers are perhaps coming out ahead breaking these up -- and despite that shrink-wrapped packaging job the are actually very clean, too. It would be really interesting to see some kind of set like this for newer TV/movies with a long-running publication but I suspect licensing issues could always be in play more now than they might have been in the past. Either way, this is a simple and findable set that has some stuff that stands out pretty well ... see 'em all in the gallery below.
