What's Buzz-worthy: Buzz found this 13-year-old set sitting in a bargain bin this week -- really -- but broke the seal before seeing this eBay auction where they've sold for $40 more than what this one cost me. (Wow.) Why is it so high? Production on these -- or at least the remaining stock -- can't be anything like NASCAR stuff from the past as this was a one and done from Press Pass. So, simply put, other than cameos from some drivers in other sets, it's one of only a few options for NHRA collectors. The chase here is also helped by the fact that it includes a hit along with every set -- a lineup that includes 34 autographs and 11 memorabilia cards available in three colors, Gold (/750), Green (/250) and Red (/1,000). There aren't a ton of recent sales for the autos here on eBay but they've reached as high as $59.99 for Angelle Sampey, $50 for John Force and $39.99 for Robert Hight. Interestingly, there are far fewer sales of memorabilia cards though they're probably harder sells with a smaller lineup of drivers that are then paralleled. This set includes cards for four NHRA divisions -- top-fuel dragsters, funny cars, stock cars and pro-stock bikes. You can see the full base set in the gallery below along with the checklist.
