What's Buzz-worthy: This one has been on my to-bust list for a while and its recent sale price got me to bite and it delivered pretty well. The mini boxes deliver two hits apiece and this one included autographs from two past Heisman Trophy winners as well as a rarer auto of a past college and NFL star who has three Super Bowl rings and a son presently chasing his NFL dreams. Aesthetically, this isn't one of Press Pass' best efforts as this is from the timeframe where it ran without college licensing -- so there is a lot of repetition of photos to limit logo cover-ups. The mug-centric base set is well-designed save for the photo editing -- they would have been stronger without helmet shots if they were available. That puts the focus on the hits here and they can include some big names from recent college years as well as past greats. If you get a box that leans more oldschool, then you'll probably do better as the 2011 draft class falls off pretty fast after names like Cam Newton, Julio Jones, Mark Ingram, J.J. Watt and A.J. Green. (Some of their autos can deliver pretty well here, too, if you're bargain-hunting.) If you like college football and collecting greats from the past without paying high-end prices, this is one to consider ripping into. Press Pass Legends is one of my favorite brands of the past because of the past and present potential and finding boxes aren't that easy for some past years.
