What's Buzz-worthy: Here's my straggler box of this one ... a rough candidate for sure that shows how the manufactured patch autos might drop here a little too often. I like the potential here -- there's potential for some huge cardboard -- but it's boxes like this one that make the other kind a little sweeter. I was nice today giving this one a C ... the Mariano Rivera base card might be the only highlight here. ... There's one name that is key here on all fronts -- Mike Trout -- that can make a box a big win ... even if you land his base card. What adds some of the value here? You can easily rip a case and find nothing for a particular player ... or find 'em often. Trout has a base card that will pay for a box (maybe more) easily right now and the three parallels he has will definitely pay for a lot more than that. He's also got five autographed cards -- start here and switch to completeds for a good idea of how the demand looks for Trout -- including an on-card sig. It's a big set (100 standard cards) and it will take you a bunch of boxes to complete it. At most, you get three base cards per box and a parallel will replace that in many of them -- making finding any one specific base card even harder. The black edges, soft stock and packaging might make high-grade copies of said cards even tougher. There are a number of autograph sets with big names (not just rookies like these) that are quite nice-looking and include stars of the past and present -- some nice designs -- but it's clear that the rookie volume on these types of patch cards overwhelms with this one ... though Trout has one of those autos, too. These boxes are not as pricey as they once were, but they can yield some big, big results with a lot of luck. I took my shot at Trout and missed. Will you? You can grab boxes at the link up top.
