What’s Buzz-worthy: Here's one I picked up long ago and had stashed for a stretch without new boxes ... so here we go. It's also a favorite of mine from the past where I've busted sooooo many of these (and posted a few here in the past so look for more here on The Buzz if you want it). As said before, this base set is loaded with “some of the nation’s greatest athletes, entertainers and newsmakers from the Golden Age of America.” There are minis and there are Exhibit box-toppers that couldn’t be more different and then there are nods to food-issue sets, historic moments and pop culture. The ink found here overall is pretty solid and the roster of inserts was fun. Some of these boxes will include a third hit at times and many of the names you see above and in the gallery below are found as autographs and memorabilia cards, too. This one is key as the home of autographs for several cast members of The Bad News Bears -- only a couple of them are pricier -- and among the other signers are Bo Derek, Stan Lee, Jerry Lewis, Yogi Berra and Penny Marshall to name a few. Other autos can make these boxes a little hit and miss but the minis and memorabilia cards help these a tad, too. You won't get rich ripping these boxes, which have dried up a tad, but they are fun.
