What's Buzz-worthy: This discount-price blaster was Buzz's first of the year (last year) for the popular retro-styled brand. Why? The dark-bordered base cards are prone to chipping -- or at least show it easier -- so Buzz sat out last year. Overall, the formula here is the same as previous editions -- perhaps to a detrimental degree for the insert lineup -- but the feel and style of Gypsy Queen is a distinct one. On the hobby side, these boxes deliver well -- and they have guaranteed hits that other retro-styled brands from Topps don't -- but the blaster box is a simple sampler. Helping this one is the inclusion of legendary players from the past in the base set, but overall this one seems a bit dry. Overall, there are some cool higher-end inclusions to be found here like button Relics but you can't find those in every box. Sometimes, thanks to set collectors, a rarer parallel like the short-printed Johnny Bench found in this box can fetch you a few bucks, so it always pays to check those odds and card numbers. These boxes are, however, a fun rip at reduced prices and those hobby boxes can still deliver the goods with some luck.
