What's Buzz-worthy: The NFL Draft got me wanting to rip some football and since the new stuff hasn't arrived just yet at retail in box form, the winner on my latest run was from the bargain bin. ... It's a good thing this one was cheaper because it was an average (or less) box with its only real A-list highlight being a serial-numbered card. ... The base set here is meaty -- 300 standard cards capped by 100 short-printed rookies -- so you'll find names you might not expect and that will make landing a lot of top stars in a box a bit tougher. Exclude RCs and you really only get three inserts and a hit -- that seems light but it's actually similar to last year. Having ripped other formats for this one (also being found in the bargain bin now), the jersey hanger boxes are a great way to go if you see them. The Mega Boxes are probably second (though they haven't yet been bargain-binned), then factory sets, hanger boxes and then the blasters. This brand was one I easily busted more than other NFL brands last year -- but the blasters weren't the driving force there. Hobby is still available, too, with guaranteed hits. This one is one to rip mostly for fun and collecting in general -- but it will pay off in some instances.
