What's Buzz-worthy: The last time Buzz ripped into one of these? It was back in 2017 ... and, while this first Chronicles set wasn't exactly what we know the brand to be today, this one was a start for the all-in-one approach that's seen more modestly here. Back then, the variety came via the inserts being of different brand names instead of the variety being every card in every pack, while the base cards are more of a highlights/story approach that's definitely non-traditional. The key here? Aaron Judge Rookie Cards and rookie autos -- in a number of brands -- but there other notable rookies are in there, too. ... Tearing into a blaster box of this one is riskier than hobby as the hits are found in every fourth box or so, but this one was a win after starting off a bit rough with Arroyo in back-to-back packs. The Galarraga card is in the same set with the same volume as Judge ink ... so it easily could have been him or one of many others. Other hits here -- even in retail -- can include patch autos (I found that in one back then) and then there are parallels in play as well. Really, the only drawback here is how small the boxes are and the weirdness of the base set ... but this was the start of what has been one of the most collector-friendly brands of the Panini years across all sports if you ask me. Do a big box if you want a decent shot at something bigger or rip a few blasters if you just want to dabble and chase stuff in general.
