What's Buzz-worthy: It's Luke Skywalker's (Mark Hamill's) birthday today so I figured I'd dip into the bargain bin for a break of a brand that, while simple, is a strong look back at the legacy of this legendary franchise from the original series to the current run of films. This one uses the original Topps Star Wars design with a 110-card base set numbered in traditional form on the fronts with subset numbering on the backs -- just with cleaner printing of today. It's been done many times but that aspect just doesn't get old for this collector. If you're a hit-chaser, the hobby boxes are for you -- they guarantee an autograph every time with the potential for more -- but the Walmart and Target boxes do have exclusive autos for Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver not found anywhere else. This particular box was included neither, but the overall auto odds on Walmart blasters is one in 17 boxes. (Driver is higher at 1:6,704 for a Gold and 13,408 for a Red and 13,408 for printing plates.) Blasters aren't going to deliver anything advanced most times, but they do include autos -- singles, doubles and triples -- as well as sketches (1:40 and up). This one's oldschool and allows it to be collected on the cheap unless you want some of the rare stuff. I like this one's look and feel but the blasters are on the simple side.
