What's Buzz-worthy: The hobby's annual flagship release is one that gets plenty of attention and because of that it includes plenty of variety, surprises and potential for big cardboard. The First Pitch celebs are back and they are relatively plentiful in a box, while a new inclusion focuses on the talents at the MLB Network and they're found (surprisingly) just one per box. The celebs don't have ink, but the Network stars do and that's not the only way you might find ink here. There are autographs on the super-thick Relics (think Five Star) and World Series-winning Cubs inserts -- we didn't find that ink here but we did find a Cub. How thick are the Relics? You'll get just three cards in that pack when you pull one. One thing you probably won't find are a number of short-printed variations -- there are some in this release but they seem to be scaled back and aren't easy pulls -- and that's a plus. (Some may not like the hit they take on case breaks when it comes to re-sale but collectors may think less is more after several years of hunting.) The parallels seem to be downplayed here -- just three serial-numbered cards and four Rainbows -- which is probably in part due to the design being closer to full-bleed for the second consecutive year. Also a plus if you ask this collector. One interesting feature is adding the players' Twitter and Instagram handles onto their cards -- or a #toppsbaseball hashtag to add to the discussions if they don't have them. All in all, this one feels like a definite improvement on last season and it seems that the hits and inserts are a tad stronger, too. This particular box wasn't the flashiest in terms of who we pulled but it shows that there's plenty to see here. Check out the massive gallery below for even more.

Steelers aren't playing, and the Pirates will suck I need something to do.
I like the 1987 Topps inserts as those were some of the first boxes I opened when getting into collecting.
Fave has to be the 87 borders...especially intriguing are the Hackman autos...would love to pull one of those!!
Nice!
I like the Vintage parallels the best.
THESE ARE SICK !
Tool cards look cool. Auto collector! 87 set looks swell as well! Thanks tav2769@yahoo.com

Best opening Topps Series 1 in awhile! Topps stepping up the game!
I love that the base relics are thicker stock this year. I always love collecting those.
@oilcanian
I like the 1987 inserts as well. Some nostalgia
@JohnnyG711
87 throwbacks...
Love the 1987 Chrome and Auto's... still never a fan of the sticker auto's. Nice for Topps' Base Product for sure!
1987, love the look!!!
Nice detailed summary ... at Target right now to buy some blaster boxes!!! #Topps
1987 Throwbacks are definitely my favorite this year. Those wood borders are so classic, and the checklist is awesome. @spelled78
my fave card is the Bonds with Retro ’87 frame
My favorite card from the 2017 Set is easily the Cubs World Series card...still feels like a dream and looking at that card brings back that great memory.

Love Throwback Yount!
Im a big fan of the 87 insert set. Unique look (before my time). Looks sharp and has plenty of quality players in it.
@astaroska
1987 Topps no doubt!
@valowpee
My favorite is the Five Tool inserts, although I wish Brandon Crawford and Joe Panik were included.
I dig the 1987 inserts, just as I'm sure others do. 1987 Topps was the first release I actually purchased when I got into the hobby.
Love the MLB Spring Training Logo cards
Love the Tulo/Donaldson northern highlights Blue Jays card. Two great stars for the jays sharing a celebration. Looking forward to getting the team set soon!
@isabelle_says
I would love a KB auto card someday. This is my most sought after item.
I'm not really into the base design much this year, but love the inserts more this year. The 1987 inserts and Mothers/Fathers Day inserts and really nice, and the MLB Network cards were a nice touch this year.
This is a really fun release! Love the '87 set!
First Pitch Judd Apatow
Sweetness!
Addison Russell World Series card, great moment in series
Looks like a great products!
Blowout buzz is the best twitter follow on intra tubes. Thank you guys and gals for all you do.
I am a huge fan of Topps and their Series 1 baseball product. The insert set that I personally like the best and also love, is the five tool insert set. I love the way that they are designed and I feel that they should create more insert sets like this. Also, my favorite base cards are Kris Bryant (#1), Corey Seager (#5), and Gary Sanchez (#7). I really this Topps Series of baseball cards and I would love to congratulate Topps on their job well done!
