What’s Buzz-worthy: The NFL season is here, so here's one more of what I think are some solid-value boxes. This one was again a bit light on the base card stars, but the rest was a lot more like I've expected out of these insert-jammed and hit-based hanger boxes. If you like your cards in smaller affordable chunks but with a guaranteed hit with some safety in numbers, it seems like this pack is the way to go at retail. The key? To make sure you get the red hanger box and not the orange hanger box. These with the guaranteed hit are $5 more than the hitless ones, but that's a bit of safety in case you don't land anything big (at least there's a hit to fall back on). The blasters will deliver more rookies (11 in the one you saw here) but only four inserts and a hit -- and the rest is base cards. Depending on what you collect and what you like, both of these formats can deliver differently -- for me it's these red hangers. I probably won't bust as much as last year -- I did a lot and this year's set design feels a little basic for me with a couple of the other early NFL releases feeling more comfortable -- but I like the mix of what you'll find here on the cheap. This particular box wasn't the flashiest but it still felt relatively decent for the price as I've seen blasters deliver less. If you like what you see here in terms of the mix, rip a hobby box for guaranteed ink and more atop what you see here.
