Heroes of the Game Cut Signature (1) – Tony Gwynn

What's Buzz-worthy: This retail-focused release is a simple one -- an encased cut auto in every box for $35 (suggested retail price). This particular box included one of a number of Tony Gwynn sigs, though probably not the 3,000 noted on the cut as that is the production run of a run of signed plush bears to commemorate his 3,000th hit. This was its signed tag. The autograph appears to be in gold ink, though I initially feared that it was a fading sig. Other autos people have pulled here include Cal Ripken Jr., Joe Montana, Gary Carter, Johnny Manziel, Joe Sewell, Buck Leonard, Lou Boudreau, Enos Slaughter, Doug Atkins, Harmon Killebrew, Isiah Thomas, Duke Snider, Bob Feller, Monte Irvin and Orlando Cepeda to name a few. Among those names, Gwynn is among the better ones, though he's not that rare of a sig and you can probably find him for the price of this box or less. The tags are also likely a heavy presence here as they are used to show Ripken and Montana cards on the box. If you're a curious ripper just wanting an autograph to add to the collection that's likely to be someone who was well-established in the game rather than a prospect, then this is one to consider.
