What's Buzz-worthy: This isn't a flashy box but it was a stacked one with a parallel auto (one in 287 packs) of a pretty solid guy, a coin Relic (one in 294 packs), a color variation (one in 80 packs) and a Black parallel (one in 40) to go with a Blue that's not supposed to be in every box (one in 20). Throw in some of the top MiLB guys in the game today and it's a fun down-on-the-farm take on 1969 Topps. The autograph checklist might be missing some of the bigs -- an important thing but not the only thing -- but this one is a simpler release to chase everything than its MLB counterpart as it's a smaller set with a few less features. There are still variations to hunt for (labeled on the back for some, including the short-prints, but not all) and some challenges as the print runs on everything are smaller. Five numbered cards in this one were no more than 99 copies (and, unfortunately my Blue had a mangled corner) and that's a good thing in the long run. In the short run, it's also good if you land a hot name. If I could rewind the clock a few years and stockpile a few boxes, this brand would be among them as the boxes that were plentiful and cheap in the past simply aren't now. Not all years of the MiLB take on Heritage worked -- some team names just clashed with designs (hello, 1964) -- but this one is pretty strong.
