What's Buzz-worthy: I didn't expect a one-in-81-box find when I ripped into this one, but that's exactly what I got when my box-topper pack where the hits reside was dangerously thin. I feared a missing card but when I pulled the seal, well ... (woo woo woo) you know it had to show up here. That's a find that will pay for a number of boxes as he's very popular online and in social media circles. Atop that? The parallel card that's also a tough pull at one in 285 packs. That's an A+ blaster. ... This is a brand where I was first on the fence when I saw Heritage mocks using the 1989 Topps baseball design here, but in person these are crisply printed and cleanly cut allowing for the oldschool feel to be found here but in cleaner ways than the original. It makes a world of difference along with strong photography and this one has it. The release is definitely insert-heavy but it still works with a mix of cards that are all relatively cohesive. ... Hobby boxes guarantee you an autograph every time and the lineup there is strong, though most of the signers we've seen before, along with a second hit. This is a brand that's actually getting better to me over time with the only issues being some cards having surface wear on the top middle during packaging. That's ultimately only a big deal if you're crazier like me to be grading non-hits here. (I have one in PSA's hands right now ... so I'll see how that might register grade-wise soon -- it could have had the issue.) About the only other risk are parallels and ink on this retro stock -- it's easy to get a corner or other issue -- but this one is still a very clean re-do of a baseball brand that a lot of people probably remember from 30 years ago.
