What's Buzz-worthy: This one is a retro classic that delivers a hit in every box -- and it's a bit of a mini-box with just eight packs. That helps keep these boxes more affordable but also makes me want more. This set is rich in detail with images printed in black and white as the name indicates. You get more scenic shots that may not have been seen before on cards as well as a few insert sets that help give this a more-unique look than most sets delivered in the last decade. These cards aren't on Heritage stock but more of a standard stock that feels a little thicker and slightly less glossy than basic Topps cards. This collector liked the look of this one from Day 1 when it was announced and it delivers pretty well in its feel. The inserts here are basic cards with a color applied to them -- sepia, blue, green and purple in this box, though green and blue seem very similar. (You'll have to check the odds and what you got in a box as well as serial-numbering to know for sure.) The photos from the very first Star Wars film are the stars here and there are some classic moments captured in a set that follows the film. The other inserts here were nice touches but not overdone compared to other sets that are heavy on concept art and poster imagery. This one is basic in its scope but it's a winner and here's hoping we see sequels for at least the next two films where there's a good chance there's a lot of behind-the-scenes photography that may be limited to black-and-white photography that we haven't seen on cardboard before.
