What's Buzz-worthy: There are some differences between retail and hobby for this one but I opted for a pair of blasters before I'll have a pack (yes, just pack) of hobby incoming for next week's Buzz 8 in 8 marathon. So far, I like what I see for the price. Retail boxes guarantee one hit (an auto or mem), while hobby packs guarantee both in one pack. The retail cards here are uncut with an embossed parallel per standard pack (hit and base) and then a second pack with nothing but inserts that are in a second pack and all embossed with some of the inserts being blaster-only finds. The design of the base cards is different -- perhaps stronger on the hobby version -- but I think the inserts work with solid feels on both their fronts and backs. That's something I can't say about some of the Panini baseball releases -- card backs can be very barren on some. The Flashing The Leather card surprised me to find here -- I really like that one and figured those cards might have been stashed only in hobby -- while the second hit was more of what I expected. All in all, my first impressions of this one are strong, while I wasn't gung-ho on the hobby initially just based on the price point but there are some big things possible. We'll see how it delivers for me next week -- hit that link above if you like what you see here.
