What's Buzz-worthy: With Ric Flair and Kenny Omega popping up in Mexico City on Saturday, I figured now might be the time to unleash this one that I have had on hand for a while ... it's a trading card set for the long-running Mexico City-based promotion that was made by Panini America just two years ago. (I literally didn't know it existed until recently.) Why rip? Well, autographs and memorabilia cards aren't a thing here but there are some earlier cards for stars you will see in American promotions right now -- WWE and AEW for example -- and then some you have perhaps seen in the past or in other shows such as Lucha Underground. I can't say I've seen a ton of stuff for this one but it never hurts to rip a little stuff outside one's normal zones just in case stuff picks up steam or stars emerge later turning a modest box into a pricey one. This box was almost an A+ thanks to the Red parallel for Kross and dupes of other names I know but I was shorted a Green parallel here -- and notable names on rarer colors should grade out at a better box if you find them ... but that won't be easy as it'd be one in 110 boxes to land any one Gold parallel for any card and one in 19 boxes to land any one Red card you might be looking for as all inserts are also in the parallel realm. (And that's assuming the parallel inserts are treated the same as base parallels ... they may not be.) This wasn't a super-cheap box but I figured I'd try it while they are still around. Could these have a massive print run? I'd doubt it ... I never heard about them upon arrival. You should land a base set in every box as well as one of the insert sets, but the Champions set is larger, requiring more than one box to build. It's a simple lineup of three sets -- with cool but minimalist backs -- and then parallels and that's it. I think I landed all of the names I'd want to find here but I'd likely rip more if the price was right. Grading on early key cards for wrestlers has been picking up the last few years and this one could become popular over time with some of those names seen here.
Product Grade: A-
Box Grade: A (several WWE/AEW notables, including parallel appearances)
Fun Grade: B (no hits will dampen this for some)
