What's Buzz-worthy: This brand is a simple meshing of old-school and new-school with a modern design carrying the way with a feel that's one part Score and one part Prestige but wholly unique. The old-school part? The insert sets have a retro vibe in there feel without going totally cliche (some are close) and the fact that a number of the players on the checklist are retired. You get a decent amount of rookies and inserts -- both one per pack -- so that helps give these boxes some pretty good potential. This box? It's closer to average in the key spots but not rough enough I'd throw it totally in the C bin as there were good names among the base portion. I didn't open much of this one last year -- and I should have -- so if this one lingers around retail shelves I'll probably check it out more. We'll see. Last year had some textures on the base card design that were irregular and could make you wonder if you have a mint card but that's not here this time but it's a design that has some touches I like (and some I don't). All in all, though, I do like its general feel. I have a feeling I'd like it even more if I landed a better box -- we'll see.
