What's Buzz-worthy: The yearly Stars & Stripes set hits retail once again with a Longevity version of the base set found in hobby boxes and two hits guaranteed per box. This box seems like it delivered pretty well with two autos and the only insert being of the 2018 Golden Spikes Award winner as the top player in college baseball and a likely first-round pick. The set includes cards for three squads -- the Collegiate National Team, 18U National Team and the 15U National Team. Both hits here were long-term ink -- members of the 16U National Team who won't even be draft eligible until they're done with high school, meanwhile the base cards are loaded with potential draft picks this year and in the future. The Longevity finish does mean foilboard -- you'll probably see fingerprints in the gallery as I sorted these to see if any dupes -- but they're crisply printed on a simple design that showcases photos well. About the only drawback is the names in foil -- a move that makes them a little tougher to read for us old guys not on the 16U team. While I'm sure most of the big stuff is in the hobby boxes of this one (hit that link above) it seems stuff could be in play here in a pretty affordable blaster-priced package. If your retail aisle is running lean, these are a no-brainer with two hits every time.
