What’s Buzz-worthy: One of Panini's most-colorful NFL brands hits the retail aisle in both mega box and blasters for, I believe, the first time with this one and this $35 Walmart format guarantees an autograph in every box -- likely Rookie Signatures each time based on the breakdown panel -- as well as some cards that are only found in this format. Cosmos parallels are only found here and are likely that type on the autographs, too, while Pioneers also appear to be exclusive to this format. This particular box delivered relatively well in its standard RC volume, while the horizontal rookies also were there in a good amount though I'm not sure I landed any headline-grabbing names. (The card of 49ers rookie Jeff Wilson Jr. would have been a bigger deal in the first two weeks of the season when he had a total of four TDs with this being his only RC. Not as big now.) This brand has a ton of RCs for guys who aren't rookies on the field now which could make this release more of a sleeper product if some guys arrive and play well out of nowhere. Some of those guys also could be more popular than you might think right now without any new standout games, too. I'll admit that this is my first time ripping into this brand as the razzle-dazzle card stock approach isn't one of my go-to brands. However, it hitting retail let me dabble a little more easily and I'll admit I liked it more than I thought I might have while not getting the greatest box. One thing I think the card backs need? A basic couple of bio lines -- position, college, years played. Otherwise, these cards do have some solid card backs that give it an informative and complete feel (save for those missing things) to go with the colorful and crazy-looking fronts. If you want to test-drive this one, grab one of these boxes -- they have good potential with rookie ink -- but if you know it from past years hit hobby for plenty more.
