What's Buzz-worthy: The journey back to 1970 baseball cards begins here with the gray-bordered entrance to a new decade represented here in great detail. I'll be the first to admit this one departs from what I liked in the 1960s but it's true to the original and it's Heritage, meaning there are plenty of highlights to look for that could and should surprise value-wise (at least early on) because this one is a brand that is collected in full. This box didn't deliver any of the variations that you can see at the link above but instead included a Black parallel that's found in every third box or so. The SP list was strong here -- a reflection of how the SPs are stacked with stars -- and the insert and subset groups here delivered, too. The auto was nice to see -- I'd prefer ink in every box but that doesn't happen here -- even if it is a rookie. The Super box-toppers are a big highlight to me -- expect around six per case based on a few breaks I have seen -- while this one has other inclusions that I will explore as I rip more this year. I won't do as much as I did for 1969, but there are a few things to look for here -- Mystery autograph redemptions for starters -- that could set the stage for a strong Heritage High Number set again this year. All in all, 1970 is far from one of my favorites, but this one is strong.
