What's Buzz-worthy: After a year with a dark visage, Topps Inception again turns to a lighter presentation on both its box and its base cards and a strikingly colorful approach to its parallels and autograph found in this one. With boxes being driven by one hit and one hit only beyond perhaps a parallel card, these will be hit and miss and this box might be an example of that. Some might be wowed by a McNeil auto of some scarcity, while others probably are not. (Red autos are one in 45 packs.) It's sold for as much as $30 on eBay so I definitely could have done worse and there is some potential room here with a guy on a big-market team. He had a decent rookie campaign so there is potential there, too. ... Just like last year, these cards are once again on thick stock with the spot gloss on the player -- essentially like past years of this one or Five Star in the past -- and you get a lower "in" price since there's just one hit. That makes it riskier as some people will land a guy like Mike Trout and his patch auto, while others will look like this one. Like I said here in the past, when you win here you win. When you don't, you probably have a box similar to this one. There is some big potential here -- and those rookie mystery autos could pay off better than you might think (see today's earlier news for one of the names revealed). I think there's just enough to chase here as long as you land the boxes on the cheaper side or don't mind needing some luck for the big stuff but I think it's generally a better-looking release than last year.
