What's Buzz-worthy: What is this? It's a box-topper bonus pack from 2019 Topps Series 2 -- one per hobby box, two per jumbo box -- and it's a Chromed take on 1984 Topps but with stars and rookies of today. It's just a 50-card set but it's also one that has parallels and, most importantly, autographs possible. Generally, I've done very well with topper packs over the years -- I have found good names on color and even Hall of Famer and rookie ink -- but this one was rough from the start before a respectable finish. That's basically 100-0 top-bottom centering on the three cards making them of little interest to only those most in need to finish a set or stockpile while the parallel at least saved this one. My player crop was rough, too, but the checklist includes some good names. Among them? Ken Griffey Jr., Nolan Ryan, Albert Pujols, Chipper Jones, Wade Boggs, Ernie Banks, Frank Thomas, George Brett, Robin Yount, Roberto Clemente, Tony Gwynn, Bryce Harper, Max Scherzer and Mariano Rivera. (The RC crop isn't strong ... better in sets after this one.) Among the autos? Anthony Rizzo, Adrian Beltre, Jones, Thomas, Joey Votto, Jacob deGrom, Griffey, Manny Machado, Ryan, Rivera, Yount, Boggs and more ... and everybody has parallels.

Pack Grade: C- (saved by the Black parallel otherwise the centering would make this a fail)
