What's Buzz-worthy: In terms of its feel, this one seems like it delivered pretty well with the Thor patch auto (one in 99 packs), the Eck Red auto (one in 92), the Vladdy RC and a Trout-Pujols dual among others. Money-wise? You never know as this one is a premium-priced product that rolls at about $45 a pack right now. That said, this box still seemed like a strong one to me. The MLB Authenticated swatches add an element of trivial fun to basic plain white swatches, allowing you to look up when they were used. The Olson, for example, was worn in a 6-5 A's win over the Angels on Opening Day last season when he hit is first home run of the year. It was his 25th longball of his career. The Thor card, meanwhile, comes from a start on May 1, 2016, when he pitched five-plus innings against the Giants but got the loss in a 6-1 game where he faced off against Madison Bumgarner. (It was just the eighth loss of Syndergaard's career if you were wondering.) It also gives you an idea of how long a release like this is in the works as the swatches were prepped with their MLBA stickers nearly one year ago. ... This box had a number of inclusions that aren't one-per-box like the Robinson and the Vladdy (both one in three boxes) so statistically this one gets an A-grade from me. Had some of those names been top-level guys in terms of popularity, this box would have been untouchable. (Meanwhile, it's still a box that had autographs from two Hall of Famers and included others among the hits who will end up there.) Every one of these cards has an acetate surface, so there may be minor spots here and there on their fronts, but those minor things are worth it because the colors are rich and vibrant here giving you a high-end feel without foilboard or foil-stamping overload. Buying by the box is the absolute safest route here as each box guarantees three autos and three mem per, but if you can find these as single packs reasonably priced they can deliver pretty well -- if you opt to take the risk of landing a Relic for that price.
